Less expensive tyre deflators.

This has got to be one of the biggest letdowns I’ve experienced on this channel. If you’re new to four-wheel driving, you’ve probably heard people talk about deflating tires, also known as airing down. Tire deflators, tire fleers, whatever you call them, are crucial for a few reasons:

  1. Lower tire pressure increases the surface area in contact with the ground, which means better traction off-road.

  2. Reduced tire pressure makes it easier on your vehicle. Softer tires absorb more shock, especially over rough terrain.

  3. Proper tire pressure reduces the risk of punctures when driving in challenging conditions.

Most off-road enthusiasts have experienced the hassle of deflating tires manually. In the past, we’d use a simple stick to push down the valve and let the air out. It was free and easy, but not very precise.

Nowadays, there’s a huge variety of tire deflators available, from individual units to multi-tire systems with built-in gauges. Prices range from affordable to quite expensive, but all they really do is release air from your tires.

Today, I’m reviewing these eBlitz tire deflators I found on eBay for about $44. They come in a neoprene case and include four identical deflators. The advantage of these is efficiency: you can attach one to each tire, then move from wheel to wheel. By the time you finish with the last tire, the first one will be ready to check.

Each deflator has a main shaft that screws onto the valve stem. You adjust the desired PSI with a screw and locking mechanism, then attach the deflator to the valve stem. The tire will then deflate to the set pressure. It’s a quick and straightforward process.
